SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
A theft, in the middle of the day in a law office with employees right around the corner.
Guts or stupidity? Depends on who you ask. The Spiva Law Group is happy they got the suspect on video committing the crime.
The suspect stole an expensive printer/copy machine, but it's the principle for the law firm that someone had the nerve to walk in, strike up a conversation with the receptionist, even take a few snacks, and then walk around the corner and swipe a printer over their shoulder and walk out a back door.
One problem for him was the not so hidden cameras all along his getaway route.
"It's absolutely insane. It shows you in so many ways how stupid some people are. One, these are not hidden cameras. They are hanging from the ceiling," Howard Spiva told WTOC.
Spiva shared the video with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police. It shows the suspect walking into the building, and just feet away from two employees at the law firm, first admiring a picture in the hall way and then swiping the copy machine. He puts it over his shoulder and walks out the back door in full view of security cameras.
The crime happened last Thursday afternoon. Spiva met with police Monday. He is confident the crook will be behind bars by the end of the week.
"He is a black male. He has a shaved head and wears glasses and drives a black SUV and has ties on the southside. He shouldn't be too difficult to find. Yeah, we have high expectations he will get caught," Spiva said.

He's vowing to make sure it doesn't happen again.
